Supporting Your Library
How to get involved!
Volunteering
We have an active volunteer program that encourages voluteers to practice skills and develope new ones. Volunteers work on a broad range of projects from clerical to landscaping depending upon their own interests. We acept applicants beginning at age 14.
Friends of the Library
The Friends support the library through fundraising efforts, sponsoring guest speakers and programs, and through various projects such as landscaping the library. The largest current project is supporting the Imagination Library in Buchanan County. This program provides a book each month to children under 5. If a child is registered at birth, by the time he enters kindergarten he will have a sixty book library of his very own. There is no cost to the parent. If you know someone who is under 5, but has not signed up, contact the library. The Friends meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 1pm. New members are always welcome.
Donations
The library accepts donations of books, dvds, various materials, and gifts in kind with the understanding that all donations will be used for the best benifit of the Buchanan County Public Library and once donated, the library reserves the right to determine best use. If you need a receipt for taxes, please list all items being donated with the value you assign to them on paper with your address. The library will return a copy of the list with an acknowledgement letter.
